The Importance of Philosophy in CP Armies

SHERBET, SMAP HQ- After my editorial on why Philosophy isn’t important I challenged Christopher1 to defend it. Unfortunatley Chris backed out so I took it upon my self to explore the questions:What is the importance of philosophy in Club Penguin armies? Do we need philosophy at all?

First up, let’s start on what Philosophy is. Here’s a definition of philosophy from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia that we all know and love (especially when writing that English essay):

Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language

The study of general and fundamental problems. Does this sound similar to what philosophy posts in Club Penguin armies are? Well, to be honest no but is it similar though. Philosophy in CP armies is the exploration of concepts related to Club Penguin armies, from the basics of an army to more advanced ideas. When we think of philosophy in armies, we think about posts that explore a topic, perhaps ranks, leadership, graphics, tactics, and much, much more. The concept is to show the community in advantages and disadvantages and hopefully enlightens the masses.

Aristotle, Greek philosopher

At first glance, you’d say philosophy is  Philosophy seems to just be ‘fillers’ for news sites that don’t have anything to report about, just random topics for random people who don’t have anything better to do. They get quite repetitive and most of the time are a 5-10 minute job with no effort spent on it. They are also as I mentioned before spammed across the sites and are more popular than normal posts for reporters as they are so easy. But is this true? Well, for some who gets irritated by seeing philosophy posts(like I did), it’ll probably be like that forever unless they change their minds. For other people who aren’t allergic, or actually enjoy philosophy posts, philosophy has importance.

The first reason is because philosophy can give everyone new ideas. Yes, some topics get posted about over and over and over and over and over again. However, there are philosophers who choose to post about new topics and actually inspire new ideas. Even the same topics that get posted about over and over and over and over and over again can inspire new ideas, because each person’s views and opinions isn’t the same. As troops change so do opinions. The philosophy posts of today inspire the revolutions tomorrow and help influence the next generation’s leaders.

Everyone has a different opinion.

The second reason that philosophy, in particular “philosophy posts” are important, is because it can help bring good ideas to crystallization. If you have a bright idea and you just tell people on by one through Xat, not a lot of people is going to know about it, unless you tell a leader and he decides to implement your idea. However, if you become a philosopher for a news site, say, SMAP, you’re writing to a massive audience, and every time you post you can be sure that a lot of people is going to be reading about your ideas. If the post is well written, and you can persuade and convince people who your idea is a good idea, then perhaps it’s going to be changing the CP army world. One example of this was when I posted on why the Nacho SS should be an army. I’d been ranting on SMAP staff site and Xat for ages but nobody listened. With my highly persuasive post the very next week the Nacho SS were inducted onto the SMAP Top Ten the next week and their sizes grew from 4 to 15 in a matter of weeks. Without my philosophy one the main S/M armies of the summer wouldn’t have happened.

The third reason is because  philosophy allows us to see our errors. Often, in a philosophy post, something is being debated. Is this good or bad? This can allow us to see a system’s flaws, and also fix it. Or, it can help us see why something might not be a good idea, and  consequently avoid it. One example of this could be: advisors are they needed? Armies have now decided to scrap advisors role and this has helped armies improve and better themselves.

Better yourself.

The last reason philosophy is a good thing in CP armies is because it’s fun and it’s a good brain stimulating post. Well-crafted philosophy posts are awesome you cannot don’t deny it. I know you’ve enjoyed reading a philosophy post before. Some of us even have our favorites. Shaboomboom’s “Snowballs” on CPAC was one of my favorite philosophy posts (throwback to 2012).  Also, it’s good brain exercise. Lounging around on Xat all day is probably not going to do us much good. Reading or writing a philosophy post and thinking with it might, however.

So I hope you think philosophy is a good idea and I hope Chris isn’t too miffed that I did an absolutely cracker of a post that are better than his.

What do YOU think? Do you agree that philosophies are good? Do you think that they are bad? Let us know YOUR opinion in the comments below!
